Sometimes we receive feedback on our newsletters criticizing the people we have quoted or presented in videos. Last month the comments we received were critical of Oprah and Elon Musk, indicating they have a darker side to them that isn't apparent to most people.
How does one assess claims like this? How do we navigate the overwhelming level of information available to us through the Internet & Social Media? Most of us have a side to us that would be considered ‘darker’. But we also have a deep love for humanity, justice, God, integrity, freedom. And we all change, grow, mature through living life and learning about ourselves and each other. This is the human condition.
Do we participate in the cancel culture? Dismiss anyone who has a view that is alternative to ours? Or do we see that none of us are perfect and all of us have wisdom to share? Are we willing to forgive? Are we willing to allow other's the freedom of their opinion without feeling the need to belittle them or cancel them? And how do these seemingly small decisions we make in how we live our life affect the health of our society?
Unfortunately we are living in a time where corporate media – newspapers and TV news are playing whack-a-mole with the truth. With the internet, anyone can say anything without any regard to facts or truth with no recourse. A person can be judged guilty by people with no evidence and no opportunity to defend themselves. Is this what we want our society to become?
We are living in a time, where discerning what is truth for us is becoming more & more difficult.
We are finding ourselves asking if it is even possible to know what is true? We have been forced to acknowledge the things we really know ... is a rather short list. The things we believe ... is a little longer, and the things we suspect or don't know is endless. In other words, most of our knowledge is a big MAYBE.
But, we have discovered there is freedom in MAYBE. We have found we don't get locked in to beliefs or attitudes quite as easily.
MAYBE allows us to discuss instead of argue. MAYBE allows us to stay open to new ideas, new possibilities. MAYBE allows us to make different choices in living our lives.
To circle back to the first paragraph, many of the opinions we have on the lives of other people is a big MAYBE. Take any famous person and you will always be able to find someone pointing out their faults & mistakes. That is also true for any of us – for none of us are without faults.
Here at SOTA, we have no doubt someone could do a convincing hatchet job on us and many people would take it at face value and be convinced.
Whatever the truth is, if we discard the light because there is also the dark who will be left to help the world? Isn't a better way forward to celebrate another's light rather than focusing on their faults? Isn't that how we would like to be treated? Isn't that how we would like to be remembered when we leave this world?
We love receiving all your feedback - you make us think - you make us question - please keep it up!

Ubuntu — The Power of Sharing
An anthropologist proposed a game to children in an African tribe. He put a basket of fruit near a tree and told the children whoever got there first won the sweet fruits. When he told them to run they all took each others hands and ran together, then sat together enjoying their treats. When he asked them why they had run together like that as one could have had all the fruits for himself they said: 'Ubuntu, how can one of us be happy if all the other ones are sad?'
What would our world be like if our daily lives lifted everyone we came in contact with; if we shared the burden of leading and getting things done; and if we helped those in need?
"... it is always the underdog who wins through sheer willpower." – Johnny Weissmuller (Tarzan)
At SOTA, we believe it is important to serve life ... to think beyond ourselves. As a company, we donate as part of our service commitment. As a customer, you share in this service to others. One of the organizations we love supporting is the National Health Federation – the only consumer organization represented on the Codex Committee.
The Codex Committee is a group comprised mostly of country representatives from around the world that create international regulations governing Foods & Supplements and the chemicals used in processing them. This committee leans heavily towards limiting vitamin supplements and passing rules on food processing that benefit big business. It is jointly run by the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) of the United Nations. Many times the NHF is the only voice of reason at these meetings – fighting to lower the poisons in our foods and increase the availability of nutrients.
"Great edition of the SOTA email/newsletter. I purchased SOTA products years ago and they still function as if purchased yesterday. Thanks so much for including the most recent updates on product use. This opens up a wider range of use for myself. Thanks.

"I'm delighted to hear your restriction release of the daily max times to use biotuner because I used it for 40 mins back to back, twice to three times a day ... I wasn't able to get the results from the limitation of two 20 minute sessions a day and the risk was worth bypassing the cautions for me. It worked!
Thank you for making that device available and lifting the restrictions so others might find their way out of that hell.

"I believe that if, at the end of it all, according to our abilities, we have done something to make others a little happier, and something to make ourselves a little happier, that is about the best we can do. To make others less happy is a crime. To make ourselves unhappy is where all crime starts. We must try to contribute joy to the world. That is true no matter what our problems, our health, our circumstances. We must try. ~Roger Ebert
